I'd Rather Be Looking At Porn

Dir. Jared Mitchell, 2010, Canada, 3 min

An anthem for the disenchanted. When the respectable and desirable activities of modern society have turned to rot and stupidity, one voice calls out for a retreat to that which is supposed to be so disreputable. Wouldn’t you rather be looking at porn?

Dinner at Lucy’s

Dir. Stephanie Markowitz, 2009, Canada, 7 min

During a dinner party, a gesture between two men suggests that their wives are not the only ones keeping a secret.

Fourplay: San Francisco

Dir. Kyle Henry, 2010, USA, 26 min

Aliya is an assured transvestite prostitute living in San Francisco who gets a seemingly typical call one night.  A compassionate wife has arranged for her ailing husband Tom to be visited by Aliya, who will hopefully bring a moment of sparked passion to his staid existence.  But Aliya’s confidence is shaken when she discovers that Tom is a quadriplegic that can only communicate by blinking his eyes.  Witness a connection that transcends the physical and storytelling that goes beyond the typical.

We Were Here

Dirs. David Weissman & Bill Weber, 2011, USA, 90 min

This is the first film to closely examine the arrival and impact of AIDS in San Francisco, and how the city's inhabitants dealt with that unprecedented calamity.  It explores suffering and loss, community coalescence and empowerment. Though it’s a story set in San Francisco, the issues it addresses extend beyond San Francisco and beyond AIDS itself.  WE WERE HERE speaks to our capacity as individuals to rise to the occasion, and the importance of community in addressing unimaginable crises.
