Wed, Dec 9 @ 7:30 PM — James Baldwin: The Price of the Ticket

JamesBaldwin

JAMES BALDWIN: THE PRICE OF THE TICKET is an award-winning film classic that was re-digitized this year. An emotional portrait, a social critique, and a passionate plea for human equality, this film is a vérité feast.  Without using narration, the film allows Baldwin to tell his own story:  exploring what it means to be born black, impoverished, gay and gifted – in a world that has yet to understand that “all men are brothers.”

Karen Thorsen was contracted by James Baldwin to produce a documentary of his life. He died as she was finishing filming and he entrusted her, along with his partner, to complete the film. At this event, Karen Thorsen will provide a quick introduction to the film and be on the panel for a discussion immediately following the screening. Do not miss this opportunity to see the film at Cinestudio and hear from the filmmaker.

Presented by Trinity’s Office of Spiritual and Religious Life & co-sponsored by EROS.
