THE ADVENTURES OF PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT

Screening Thursday, September 11, 2025, 7:00 PM @ Cinestudio

We recently lost a great actor in Terence Stamp. This month’s Queer Thursdays presentation is a tribute to him.

Synopsis: When drag queen Anthony (Hugo Weaving) agrees to take his act on the road, he invites fellow drag performer Adam (Guy Pearce) and trans woman Bernadette (Terence Stamp) to come along. In their colorful bus, named Priscilla, the three entertainers travel across the Australian desert performing for enthusiastic crowds and homophobic locals. But when the other two performers learn the truth about why Anthony took the job, it threatens their act and their friendship.

“It’s a tremendous film that was ahead of its time on LGBT issues and, in some ways, is ahead of ours.” – Peter Bradshaw, Guardian

“The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert presents a defiant culture clash in generous, warmly entertaining ways. For all its glitter, this is the sort of film in which everyone becomes happier and nicer by the final reel.” – Janet Maslin, New York Times
