Acclaimed Italian filmmaker Mario Martone brings to the screen an intimate and deeply human story inspired by the life and writings of Goliarda Sapienza. Set against the backdrop of Italy in the early 1980s, Fuori follows Sapienza, a celebrated writer whose time in prison leads to an unexpected friendship with two fellow inmates. Once released, the three women navigate the challenges of rebuilding their lives, discovering that the bonds formed behind bars can be as transformative as they are enduring.

Led by a remarkable performance from Valeria Golino as Sapienza, Fuori is a moving exploration of friendship, resilience, and the search for belonging beyond society’s margins. Adapted from Sapienza’s 1983 novel, the film blends emotional depth with a vivid sense of place, offering a portrait of women determined to define themselves on their own terms.
